Beneath the surface of perfection, darkness festers in unexpected places.
A nearby quiet town becomes the backdrop for a perplexing murder mystery when a chiropractor is found dead. Sheriff Angus Reid is tasked with solving the strange case that plunges him deep into the lives of a nearby Amish community. With no apparent clues and a seemingly fruitless autopsy, Angus is determined to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death.
Meanwhile, local Weyport resident, Caleb Townsend, carries a secret of his own. Torn between his Amish upbringing and his newfound freedom, he stumbles upon a connection between the deceased and his distant sister, Rachel—who as it happens, was the last person to see the chiropractor alive.
But when Rachel suddenly disappears from the very Amish community Caleb turned his back on, matters become more complicated for both him and Angus.
As Caleb sets out to find his sister before Angus does, confronting his past and his estranged family along the way, Angus discovers there may be more to the case than meets the eye.
And as the facade of perfection slowly crumbles, more victims turn up dead...
This suspenseful murder mystery will keep you guessing until the very end.

Angus and the gang from Weyport are back in book 9 and what a page turner.
What starts out as a slow burn to reel (suck) you in, by the time you get a few chapters in, you realise you don't want to (or can't) put the book down.
Each chapter keeps feeding you little tidbits, keeping you invested, mesmerised and wanting more (a need to know now).
I was not expecting some of the curveballs Angus has to deal with and there were a few spots that had me guessing what was going to happen next, which is what I love about this series. Everything is kept secret until the last possible moment and then boom 💥 (gotcha)
I can't wait to read Angus's next mystery case as each new story is better than it's predecessor.
Wow! I thought I'd read a few pages of Caleb's Cross last night, but ended up not putting it down until I devoured the whole book! I thought I had the plot figured out, but boy was I wrong!
Urcelia Teixeira did a nice job of dealing with a sticky subject with grace and hope. I'm already looking forward to Angus' next adventure!
WOW......
What a great book.
Angus and his team are back in the depths of mystery, trying to sort out another whodunit.
This one pulled me in from the start and held me captivated till the end trying to work it all out before Angus did.
Have to admit, every time I thought I had it, another twist jumped out at me.
Can you solve the mystery before Angus?
Her best book to date I think. Couldn’t put it down. Catches you from page one. 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really enjoyed this book. The story was interesting and captured my attention from the very beginning. The characters were relatable, and the writing was very good. Ms Teixeira clearly has a real talent for storytelling.
I was a little worried about the AI narration beforehand, but it turned out not to be a problem at all. I found it easy to listen to and didn’t feel that it took away from the story.
I’m definitely looking forward to listening to the rest of the Angus Reid series!
